Treaty
The Republic of Kazakhstan and the Italian Republic, hereinafter referred to as the «Parties», taking into account developed contacts, bonds of friendship and understanding between their peoples and realizing that their strengthening contributes to keeping international peace and security, confirming their adherence to the purposes and principles of the United Nations Organization' Charter, the Helsinki Final Act and other documents signed within the frame of the Organization on Security and Cooperation in Europe, and also to other conventional norms of international law, in particular for Italy-respect of obligations deriving from its membership in the European Union, wishing to support implementation of the new partnership between the European Union and Central Asia, defined by the Strategy adopted by the European Union on June, 22, 2007, confirming their adherence to the Joint Declaration on the Principles of Mutual Relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Italian Republic, signed in Rome on September, 22, 1994, and considering it as a legal basis for present and subsequent development and deepening of comprehensive cooperation of two States and Nations, aiming at strengthening their economic cooperation through establishment of favorable conditions for its further development and establishment of direct contacts between the economic subjects of all forms of ownership, recognizing the importance of implementation of the Memorandum of mutual understanding between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the European Union on cooperation in the energy field signed on December, 4, 2006, wishing to increase trade turnover between the two countries, having increased the specific quality and value of production due to high added cost and high technologies in bilateral trade, and wishing to make joint efforts on diversification of trade turnover, realizing that interaction of the two countries in the energy field is of strategic value for maintenance of energy security, with the purpose to give new impetus to bilateral cooperation in political, economic, scientific and technical, ecological, information, humanitarian, cultural and other areas and to strengthen its legal base, have agreed as follows:
Article 1
The Parties develop their relations on the basis of equality, mutual trust, strategic partnership and widespread cooperation.
Article 2
The Parties cooperate with the aim to strengthen peace and to increase stability and security in Europe and Eurasia. The Parties contribute to strengthening of the peace-making role of the United Nations and the OSCE and to increasing of effectiveness of the mechanisms of regulation of regional conflicts and other situations infringing upon the interests of the Parties.
